MNB: Hungary c/a surplus €546 mln in August

Hungaryʼs current-account surplus reached €492.7 bln in August, according to a monthly balance of payment data published by the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) yesterday.

The countryʼs external financing capacity - calculated as a combined surplus of the current and capital accounts – came to a preliminary €854 mln in August. Based on the financial account, the January external financing capacity was €953 mln.

Net transfers from the European Union reached €533.7 mln as a balance of €503.7 mln inflows and €70 mln outflows in August, the accrual-based figures show.

Some €361.3 mln of both the net and gross inflows was in capital transfers.

The MNB began releasing monthly balance of payment reports in July 2014. The monthly data include estimates and are available on the website only until the publication of the respective quarterly figures.
