MNB Int'l Reserves Climb EUR 1.553 bln in January

International reserves of the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) stood at EUR 40.261 billion at the end of January, up EUR 1.553 bln from a month earlier, state news wire MTI reports, citing data published by the central bank on Tuesday.

The stock of cash, deposits, and securities in the reserves rose EUR 1.363 bln to EUR 32.189 bln.  

The Government Debt Management Center (ÁKK) issued USD 4.25 bln of FX bonds early in January. Part of the proceeds was used to buy back USD 1 bln of dollar bonds maturing in 2023 and 2024.

The value of monetary gold in the reserves stood at EUR 5.341 bln. The value of IMF SDRs was EUR 2.333 bln.
