Forint adrift ahead of Fed chairman's speech

The forint meandered without direction on Friday morning's interbank market as traders idled in a wait-and-see mode ahead of Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke's policy speech later on Friday.

The forint weakened against the Swiss franc, trading at 238.72 to the CHF at 9:35 a.m., compared to a rate of 237.79 at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, and softened to the euro, trading at 272.28 to the EUR at 9:35 a.m., compared to a rate of 272.10 at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, while strengthening against the US dollar, trading at 188.75 to the USD at 9:35 a.m., compared to a rate of 189.31 at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday.
