Citibank pre-tax profits up 7% in 2005

Citibank Zrt had pre-tax profit of Ft 16.2 billion in 2005, 7% more than a year earlier, the bank said on Thursday.

Return on equity was 38.98% and return on assets was 2.87%. Total assets were Ft 458.8 billion at the end of 2005, up 13% from twelve months earlier. The stock of loans increased 5% to Ft 160 billion, and the stock of deposits grew 15% to Ft 298.8 billion. The bank's stock of custodial deposits exceeded $14 billion at the end of 2005. Citibank had 320,000 retail customers at the end of 2005, and its number of credit cards issued exceeded 200,000.
The number of clients in the bank's CitiGold division jumped 14% to 3,200. These clients accounted for Ft 115 billion of the bank's stock of deposits, up 32% from a year earlier.
