Central bankʼs deputy governor to head MKB

National Bank of Hungary (MNB) Deputy Governor Ádám Balog is resigning from his position at the central bank and will continue his career at Hungarian state-owned MKB Bank as chairman-CEO as of July 22, a press release from MNB said today.

Balog was in charge of monetary policy, financial stability and lending incentives at the central bank. Hungarian news agency MTI said that ownership rights over MKB Bank are currently exercised by the MNB. The Hungarian state acquired MKB Bank from BayernLB last year, the news agency added.

The press release noted that Balog has been working for the central bank since March 6 in 2013.
