Hungary ESA gov't deficit ratio reaches 6.8% in 2021

Hungary's government sector had a HUF 3.736 trillion deficit in 2021, equivalent to 6.8% of GDP, calculating with the European Union's accrual-based accounting methodology, news agency MTI reports, citing data published by the Central Statistical Office (KSH).

The deficit relative to GDP was a full percentage point under the gap in 2020.

Government sector revenue rose 8.3% to HUF 22.695 tln, while expenditures increased 6.9% to HUF 26.431 tln.

lone in the fourth quarter, the government sector deficit reached HUF 1.728 tln, equivalent to 11.9% of quarterly GDP. Revenue rose 13.9% to HUF 6.622 tln and expenditures were up 4.8% at HUF 8.35 tln.
