Tax department: successful operation

Revenues registered by tax authority APEH amounted to Ft 4.012 billion ($22.3 billion) in the first 6 months of 2007, Ft 635 billion (18.8%) more than a year ago. Operation has been successful, as the proportional target income has been met, said chair János Szikora.
Key taxes provided two-thirds of growth. VAT was Ft 1.665 billion, Ft 208.7 billion more compared to the base period. Refunds increased from last year's Ft 624.8 billion to Ft 727.6 billion ($4 billion). Ft 801 billion was received as personal income tax, Ft 45.3 billion more than in the first 6 months of 2006. Corporate tax was Ft 201 billion, a Ft 10 billion increase. Restructuring the tax department increased operative efficiency. 10% less declarations were checked than last year, however these revealed 24% more in outstanding payments. (Gazdasági Rádió)
