Despite the increase in loan interest rates and high inflation, students can still use interest-free loans or more than 10% lower than the open market loans to obtain their education, writes hrportal.hu.

The interest-free and free-to-use Student Loan Plus (Diákhitel Plusz), which was introduced due to the epidemic and can only be applied for until September 30, has now become the most popular scheme, which is why discussions are currently underway about whether students can apply for it in the long term, said Balázs Rákossy, CEO of the Student Loan Center.

The interest rate on the free-to-use Student Loan 1, which can be applied for up to HUF 1.5 million per semester, is now 4.99%.

In contrast, the interest rate on free-to-use, unsecured personal loans that can be applied for similar purposes exceeds 15% at almost all financial institutions.

Producing journalism that is worthy of the name is a costly business. For 27 years, the publishers, editors and reporters of the Budapest Business Journal have striven to bring you business news that works, information that you can trust, that is factual, accurate and presented without fear or favor.
Newspaper organizations across the globe have struggled to find a business model that allows them to continue to excel, without compromising their ability to perform. Most recently, some have experimented with the idea of involving their most important stakeholders, their readers.
We would like to offer that same opportunity to our readers. We would like to invite you to help us deliver the quality business journalism you require. Hit our Support the BBJ button and you can choose the how much and how often you send us your contributions.
