Stock of home loans climbs to HUF 4.004 tln

Hungarian lenders' stock of home loans increased 10% to HUF 4.004 trillion in 2020, reaching 8.4% of GDP, data compiled by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) show.

The number of home loan contracts came to 667,700 at year-end.

Universal commercial banks accounted for 58% of home loan stock, mortgage banks for 29% and home savings banks for 12%.

About 43% of home loan contracts, accounting for 45% of home loan stock, were included in a blanket repayment moratorium at the end of last year.
