OTP Bank, Hungary's biggest commercial lender, marked the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the OTP Fáy András Foundation on Tuesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

The foundation was set up to promote the financial education of Hungary's youth, achieving that goal through a variety of programs, in and outside of school. The OTP Fáy András Foundation provides instruction to over 20,000 students a year.

Finance Minister Mihály Varga said the work of the foundation dovetails with government efforts to boost Hungarians' degree of financial savvy.

OTP chairman-CEO Sándor Csányi said the foundation transfers up-to-date knowledge and approaches, adding that demand for financial instruction is "enormous".

The foundation's namesake, András Fáy, was a poet, politician, and the founder of Hungary's first savings bank.
