Within loans to the household sector, housing loans accounted for almost 48%, the ratio of which to GDP increased from 8.4% at the end of the previous year to 8.9%, according to the latest summary report of the Central Statistical Office (KSH).
The housing loan portfolio in Hungary was HUF 4.259 trillion at the end of June, 6.4% higher than at the end of last year, but still slightly below the 2010 peak.
Unpaid installments due to the repayment moratorium and the fact that the closing of maturing loans was postponed played a role in expanding the housing loan portfolio.
