Households made net withdrawals of HUF 184 billion from their accounts at Hungarian banks in November, monthly data released by the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) on Tuesday show, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

Households made net withdrawals for the fourth month in a row, taking out net HUF 42 bln in August, HUF 124 bln in September, and HUF 179 bln in October.

Hungarian banks' retail deposit stock stood at HUF 12.931 trillion at the end of November.

MNB data show households borrowed net HUF 31 bln in November. The stock of prenatal baby support loans rose HUF 23 bln during the month.

The government introduced the unsecured, interest-free, general-purpose prenatal baby support loans up to HUF 10m for families having children in July 2019 along with a number of measures designed to address depopulation. The credit was originally to have been available only until the end of 2022 but the government extended the scheme for another two years in a decree issued late in December.

The retail lending stock stood at HUF 9.862 tln at the end of November. The stock of prenatal baby support loans was over HUF 1.871 tln.
