Gov't Extends Retail Rate Freeze Till Year-end

The government is extending a rate freeze on retail credit until the end of 2024, National Economy Minister Márton Nagy said on Thursday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

Around 300,000 retail borrowers are impacted by the rate freeze according to the minister.

The rate freeze has been in place for two and a half years, Nagy said.

The measure has saved those borrowers, who owe over HUF 1.25 tln, some HUF 266 bln, so far, he added.
