Bulgaria's non-govt deposit growth speeds up in May

Deposits of Bulgaria's non-government sector increased by 11.7% year-on-year at the end of May, reaching BGN 96.4 billion (EUR 49.2 billion), after growing by an annual 11.4% in April, the central bank said last week.

Deposits of households increased by 11.6% year-on-year in May, reaching BGN 63.5 billion. Loans to Bulgaria's non-government sector meanwhile grow by 6.4% year-on-year at the end of May, reaching BGN 67.1 billion (EUR 34.3 billion), following an annual rise of 6.1% at the end of April. Loans to households rose by an annual 9.7% to BGN 26.7 billion at the end of May.
