Bill seeks to tax porn, channel revenue to culture fund

An MP of governing Fidesz has submitted an amendment to Parliament that would levy a 25% tax on pornography and channel the proceeds to the National Cultural Fund, the bill published on the website of Parliament shows.

The tax would be levied on pornographic content on the internet, in films and in printed publications, including tabloids. The tax would be levied on publishers, filmmakers, internet service providers, wholesalers and "pornographic content performance activities".

The bill would also funnel 90% of the revenue from the gambling tax on the state lottery's popular "pick five" game to the National Cultural Fund.

The bill, submitted by László Simon L, is to be debated on Wednesday, according to Parliament's agenda.
