Bank card purchases up 15% in Q3
Purchases made in Hungary with locally issued bank cards came to HUF 1.837 trillion in the third quarter, up 15% from the same period a year earlier, according to data released by the National Bank of Hungary (MNB) on its website this week.
Payments made with the cards, such as for bills, rose 23% to HUF 417 billion during the period. The scale of cash withdrawals from ATMs declined 3% to HUF 2.085 tln. The number of POS bank card terminals at bricks-and-mortar businesses rose 4% to 118,225.
