Tondach picked the town of Békéscsaba (SE Hungary) as the site for the plant because of the rich clay deposits nearby as well as the city’s proximity to Tondach’s markets in Romania, Bulgaria and Ukraine. Tondach Magyarország exports about half of its production, CEO of the firm, Aladár Kató said. He added that it controls 70%of the domestic market.
The plant, to start test production in August, will turn out an annual 30 million tiles and 2 million other roofing elements. It will staff 60 people. Tondach Magyarország’s annual revenue will rise from Ft 12 billion – Ft 13 billion to Ft 17 billion – Ft 18 billion as a result of the investment.
Tondach was awarded a Ft 500 million state investment subsidy for the project. (MTI – Econews)
