Thyco starts building car parts plant in Nyíregyháza
Belgian auto parts maker Thyco has started building a plant in the Nyíregyháza Industrial Park, in northeast Hungary, Thyco managing director Christian H. Holtappels announced on Monday.
Thyco purchased a 6,000 square meter plot in the park from the local council and obtained preemption rights for a further 4,000 square meters. The company already has supplier agreements, signed three years earlier, with six companies based near Nyíregyháza. These companies employ a combined 50 workers who make parts to order for the Belgian firm. The new plant will not end these relationships; rather it should strengthen them, Holtappels said.
Thirteen companies have invested a combined Ft 80 billion at the Nyíregyháza Industrial Park. Together they employ 4,000 people.
