Sauflon to build Ft 3 bln contact lens factory in Hungary

The UK’s Sauflon Pharmaceuticals plans to build a Ft 3 billion ($18.6 million, €12 million) contact lens factory near Budapest, Economy Ministry state secretary Ábel Garamhegyi said on Wednesday.
The government has decided to award the company a special investment subsidy, Garamhegyi said. The size of the subsidy will only be revealed after it is approved by the EU, he said when asked by MTI. The plant will create 160 new workplaces in the fist two years and another 200 in the three years after. The plant will start with annual capacity of 100 million contact lenses, but Sauflon expects to raise this to 350 million in 3-4 years, investing altogether Ft 10 billion ($62 million, €40 million) at the plant.
