Opel to rev up Hungary engine production this year

Recycling

German car-marker Opel will manufacture 100,000 more engines at the company’s plant in Szentgotthard (W Hungary) in 2012 than it did in 2011, factory Spokeswoman Edit Legardi told MTI on Wednesday.

Ms Legardi said that the expected rise in production stems from the fact that Opel will manufacture entire engines for delivery to GM’s overseas plants in 2012, not just engine parts.

The plant spokeswoman said that Opel plans to hire 200-250 employees at the plant this year, bringing the total number of workers it engages at the factory to 1,000.
