Hungarian oil and gas company MOL plans to build a gas-fired power plant at the site of its Slovak unit Slovnaft in Bratislava (SW Slovakia), Slovnaft CEO Oszkár Világi told business daily Napi Gazdaság in an interview published on Thursday.

Világi told the newspaper that the plant would have the same capacity as a 860MW plant that MOL is building at MOL’s refinery in Százhalombatta, just outside Budapest, as part of a joint venture with Czech strategic partner CEZ energy group. CEZ holds 7.3% of MOL.

The Slovnaft CEO said that MOL would complete the Slovakia-based plant somewhat later than the Hungary-based plant, which is expected to begin commercial operation in the first quarter of 2015.
