Marklin expands model train factory

German model train producer Marklin wound up an investment of €9.4 mln (approximately HUF 3 bln) to expand production capacity in its plant located in Győr in western Hungary, German news portal presseportal.de announced late yesterday.
Developments included an extension of the production unit by 6,100 sqms creating 50 jobs and raising the headcount at the plant to 650.
Thanks to the expansion, Marklin can now produce its model trains in all track gauges at its own European plants. "In order to guarantee meeting the high quality requirements and our ability to deliver continuously, it was essential to move production of models of all gauges back to our own plants in Europe," Marklin CEO Florian Sieber said.
