Inter-Metal to open regional waste management centre
Metal and electronic waste management group Inter-Metal Recycling (IMR) plans to open a new regional waste management centre in Szolnok (E Hungary) at a site formerly owned by Henkel, business daily Világgazdaság said on Thursday.
IMR owner-managing director Gabor Vincze told the paper that the company has purchased a 40,000sqm property in Szolnok, with a 15,000sqm production and warehouse facility and office space. The company is looking for an investor for the modern warehouse facility and the two-storey office building.
The group plans to receive both household and industrial-commercial waste deliveries at the new site, including deliveries from local vehicle industry companies.
The Csepel-based (S Budapest) IMR group began expanding in 2008, just before the outbreak of the crisis, carrying out a HUF 1bn investment and setting up four subsidiaries and a site outside of the capital.
IMR had revenue of HUF 12bn in 2010, double that in the previous year as metal prices rose and accelerating industrial exports meant more scrap metal to collect. The company expects revenue of HUF 15bn this year.
The increase followed a double-digit decline in revenue in 2009.
IMR collected 50,000 tons of scrap metal last year.
The company employs 130 people.
