Hungary: E.ON to start construction on new power plant in October
Energy giant E.ON will begin construction of a €400 million power plant in Gönyű (northwest Hungary) in October, E.ON Erőművek Executive Director Zoltán Katona told MTI Tuesday.
E.ON plans to complete the 433MW plant in 2010 as originally planned in spite of a slight delay in the beginning of construction. The plant will have an efficiency of 58% provided by combining gas and steam-powered equipment.
E.ON’s Hungarian gas-trade unit E.ON Földgáz trade will supply the plant with 650 million cubic meters of natural gas annually through a 13-kilometer-long pipeline. The combined-cycle plant in Gönyű will be E.ON’s first facility to distribute power throughout Hungary.
E.ON may later expand the plant’s capacity to 800MW. E.ON Erőművek, a 100% subsidiary of E.ON Kraftwerke, will operate the plant. (MTI-Econews)
