Headcount at Flextronics Pecs plant could reach 800 in 2012
Headcount at contract electronics manufacturer Flextronics’ plant in Pecs (SW Hungary) will reach 100 by the end of 2011 but could climb to 800 next year, the company told MTI on Friday.
Flextronics said production at the plant had started after a renovation and a training course for workers at the company’s base in Budapest.
Flextronics announced with Chinese telecommunications equipment maker Huawei in October that the two companies would establish a joint plant in Pecs. Production at the optical network equipment plant was to start in December, the companies said at the time.
More than 12,000 people work at four Flextronics bases in Hungary: in Zalaegerszeg, Sarvar, Tab and Budapest.
Huawei earlier worked with Elcoteq in Pecs, but the Finnish company recently filed for bankruptcy.
