GE moves some lighting fixture production to Hungary

General Electric (GE) is moving some of its lighting fixture production from its plant in Vicenza, Italy, to Nagykanizsa, southwest Hungary), creating another 50 jobs at the Hungarian plant, plant manager Balázs Vizi said on Sunday.

The production involves monthly 150,000-200,000 of the fixtures, which are new to the plant's line, Vizi said. Sales of lighting fixtures accounted for Ft 173.74 billion of revenue at GE's Hungarian unit in 2004, the latest period for which figures are available. Sales included exports of Ft 169.24 billion. The unit had total sales of Ft 467.42 billion in 2004, compared to Ft 391.22 billion in 2003.
