French-Hungarian consortium wins €720 mln bid

A consortium of French and Hungarian companies has won the public bid for Budapest's new sewage treatment plant, currently the largest environmental project in Central and Eastern Europe, costing Ft 180 billion (€720 million), daily
business Világgazdaság reported on Friday. The four-year project, to be implemented by Degremont SA, OTV France, as well as Hungarian companies Hidepito and Alterra, will start next summer on South Budapest's Csepel Island, to create the heart of the city's sewerage system serving 1.1 million people, the paper said. The European Union is expected to contribute €480 million to
the project.
