Electronics maker EPCOS, the Hungarian unit of Japan’s TDK-EPC, inaugurated a HUF 960m aluminum electrolytic capacitor plant at the company’s base in Szombathely (W Hungary) on Tuesday.
EPCOS won a HUF 260m grant from the Regional Operative Programme for the investment.
The development represents one phase in a complex, HUF 4.5bn expansion plan in Szombathely, which includes further investments in machinery. EPCOS expects growth of 6-8% over the coming years, depending on changes in the market.
EPCOS currently employs 2,000 workers at its Szombathely plant and plans to raise the number to over 2,200.
