Duna-Dráva Cement plans Ft 5 bln kiln replacement project
Duna-Dráva Cement Kft, which controls about 45% of Hungary's cement market, plans to spend more than Ft 5 billion to replace all of the kilns at its plant in Beremend, in southwest Hungary, business daily Világgazdaság reported on Wednesday.
The investment will boost efficiency at the plant and bring it in line with EU environmental norms, Duna-Dráva president-CEO Miklós Oberritter told the paper. The new kilns will reduce the plant's emissions of CO2 as well as dust, sales and marketing director János Szarkandi said. The project is expected to start in 2007.
Duna-Dráva Cement was formed with the merger of Beremendi Cement and Dunai Cement in 1997. The company's staff of 550 produces an annual 2.5 million tons of cement. Duna-Dráva Cement is owned by Germany's HeidelbergZement and Schwenk Zement.
