Consortium to build HUF 3bn medical centre in SW Hungary

Construction of the HUF 3.06bn Psoriasis Treatment Centre in Harkány (SW Hungary) could now start as the financing issues have been resolved, business daily Napi Gazdaság said on Friday, quoting Eszter Sarkadi of the Harkány Tourism Association.
The investment will be carried out by the consortium of the local municipality, Gyogyfurdokorhaz Kft (Harkany), and local spa company Harkanyi Gyogyfurdo Zrt, co-funded with HUF 1.4bn in European Union support. As a result of the development, the facility will be able to treat around 2,000 patients a year. The construction work is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2013.
The paper said around 200,000 people in Hungary suffer from the disease, which can be successfully treated with the local thermal water.
