BorsodChem starts commercial production at new MDI plant

Chemicals company BorsodChem Rt has begun commercial production at its new MDI plant, after successfully completing the trial run started October 4, the company announced on Wednesday. BorsodChem said a significant amount of production will arrive on the market in December. BorsodChem's new plant, which cost €80 mln to build, can produce 100,000 tonnes of MDI a year. The plant uses technology developed by the company itself. Next year, BorsodChem expects the plant to produce 80,000 tonnes of MDI. At its old MDI plant, which has an annual capacity of 60,000 tonnes, BorsodChem uses technology made by Japan's Mitsui Toatsu Chemicals.
