BorsodChem inaugurates €200m TDI plant
Hungarian chemicals company BorsodChem, a unit of China's Wanhua Industrial Group, on Friday inaugurated a €200m toluene diisocyanate (TDI) plant at its base in Kazincbarcika (NE Hungary).
The new plant has nominal capacity of 160 kilotons a year, but can be expanded to bring output to an annual 200 kilotons, depending on demand. Because of unfavorable market conditions, the plant is not expected to operate at full capacity until later.
National Development Ministry parliamentary state secretary János Fónagy said the new plant is a milestone for Hungary's chemicals industry and for Hungarian and Chinese cooperation.
