Bericap plans Ft 1 bln investment at Hungarian unit starting 2007
Germany's Bericap, one of the world's biggest makers of plastic bottle caps, plans to start a Ft 1 billion investment program at its unit in Hungary next year, business daily Napi Gazdaság reported on Monday.
Bericap plans to install automatic production lines at the plant in Hungary and hire another 15 workers, bringing staff to 145, managing director Dénes Papp told the paper. Bericap recently completed a Ft 1.3 billion, 4,700 square meter plant, bringing total production space at its base in Székesfehérvár to more than 13,000 square meters.
Bericap also chose its Hungarian unit to set up a plant in Romania. Although no final decision on the location of the planned greenfield investment has been taken yet, construction could start as soon as next year, Papp said. Two months earlier, Bericap set up a unit in Serbia, he added.
Bericap expects its Hungarian unit to generate revenue of Ft 10 billion in 2006 and Ft 11.5 billion in 2007. The company exports 90% of its products to 35 countries as far away as Australia. Among its clients are Coca-Cola, Pepsi and Hungarian oil and gas company Mol Nyrt. Bericap has invested Ft 10 billion in Hungary so far, including spending at its other Hungarian unit, Pekonold, which makes tools used in the plastic processing industry.
