Revenue rose 17% from the same period a year earlier. The plant turned out 1.442 million engines in January-September, 14% more than in the same period a year earlier. During the same period, 8,843 Audi TT Coupe models rolled off the plant’s assembly line, 36% more than a year earlier.
Audi has invested almost €290 million at its Hungarian unit so far this year, nearly the entire €300 million it targeted at the start of the year, including spending €105 million on R&D. Since 1993, Audi has invested €3.027 billion at the plant, including €597 million in R&D.
Audi Hungaria started making second-generation Audi TT Coupe models in spring, and it will start making second-generation TT Roadster models by year-end. The company is Hungary’s biggest exporter and is one of the country’s biggest companies in terms of revenue. It employs 5,300 workers.
