The local unit of French supermarket chain Auchan said on Thursday that it will stop offering single-use plastic roll bags, typically used by customers for packaging vegetables, fruits, and bakery products, in its stores from April 19, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

Customers will be able to use environmentally friendly packaging products already on offer to take their goods home, Auchan said.

Auchan took the decision as part of carrying out its sustainability strategy.
