The drinking water in Hungary is excellent, as the quality control of the water is continuously being monitored, according to the national chief medical officer Dr. Cecília Müller at the Happy Week campaign promoting water consumption in Budapest, according to profitline.hu.

Müller said both public water providers and the National Center for Public Health (NNK) regularly test drinking water and perform roughly 900,000 tests on tens of thousands of samples a year.

She indicated that Hungary is in a fortunate position, as healthy, high-quality water flows from the tap.

She pointed out that drinking water is also being tested for microplastics and hormones; the results show that these substances can only be "traced" in surface waters, but not yet in the drinking water, as shore-filtered wells filter out these contaminants.
