Altogether 229 teams from 28 countries will exhibit 200 energy efficient vehicles in London this summer at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The aim of the competition is to design and manufacture vehicles that can run the longest possible distance on one liter of fuel, according to the press release.
The Hungarian teams competing include students from the University of Debrecen, Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), the University of Szeged, Széchenyi István University of Győr and Kandó Kálmán secondary school.
The first European competition was organized in 1985, in which the winning vehicle was able to go for 680 km on one liter of fuel. The record distance of 3,771 kilometers, the equivalent of a round trip from London to Rome was reached by a student team in 2009, according to reports.
