Magyar Telekom to test new NFC mobile payment technology
Magyar Telekom will start testing a new Near Field Communication (NFC)-based mobile-payment technology in late July in the city of Szolnok (E Hungary) as part of its T-City program, the company told MTI on Wednesday.
Magyar Telekom's T-City program has been operating in Szolnok for two years. The project has allowed locals to get acquainted with state-of-the-art telecom technologies and the company to gain experience on the new solutions.
Magyar Telekom, Telenor, Vodafone, and MasterCard, OTP Bank and SuperShop announced on Monday the establishment of the Hungarian Mobile Wallet Association (Magyar Mobil Tárca Egyesület). The primary aim of the organization is to make Hungary one of the first countries in Europe to launch NFC-based mobile-payment services.
