Lawmakers clear way for financial firms to assume postal services in small towns
Hungaryʼs Parliament today approved amendments to the postal act that will allow financial institutions to offer postal services in settlements with fewer than 10,000 residents, Hungarian news agency MTI reported.
State secretary for postal affairs Zsuzsa Németh said earlier that farming out such activities in small communities could save state-owned Magyar Posta billions of forints while maintaining a standard of service.
The law was passed with 113 voting in favor, 41 voting against and 23 abstaining.
