Hungarians take interest in truck driver licensing program

Initiatives

More than 20,000 Hungarians expressed a willingness to participate in a government program to license more truck and lorry drivers, National Economy Minister Mihály Varga said at a professional conference in Balatonvilágos, western Hungary, on Saturday, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.

The Hungarian government said in July that it would allocate HUF 5 bln in state and European Union funding to help would-be truck and lorry drivers acquire their licenses. The countryʼs road haulage companies are facing a shortage of almost 6,500 drivers, MTI reported.
