Graboplast to supply 2008 Olympic Games
Graboplast Rt, a Hungarian maker of special artificial flooring, will be a supplier to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, business daily Napi Gazdaság reported on Wednesday.
The order will be significant, Graboplast marketing manger Zoltán Radnóti told the paper, without revealing the exact size. Radnóti noted that order is the result of many years of efforts to break onto China's gigantic market, and is also a product of Graboplast's research and development program, now in its fourth year. The company now invests some Ft 600 million a year, or about 3% of annual revenue, in R&D and improvements at its factories in Győr and Tatabánya, both in northwest Hungary.
Graboplast is concentrating more on specialty products, such as flameproof and waterproof flooring, Radnóti said. Big orders the company is currently filling include a €100,000 one for the delivery of 6,800 square meters of flooring for new Siemens trams recently purchased by the Budapest public transport company BKV Zrt and another €100,000 flooring order for suburban rail vehicles for Hungarian national railways MÁV Zrt.
