Slovenia more dependent on imported energy
Slovenia’s dependence on imported energy increased by 3 percentage points to 51% last year, local media reported citing figures released by the Statistics Office on Wednesday. Slovenia’s primary energy production fell by 7% last year to 3.5 million tons of oil equivalent, chiefly due to an 11% decrease in the output of Slovenia’s sole nuclear power plant and a 9% fall in coal production. Out of the total of 15,715 gigawatt/hour gross of electricity generated in Slovenia last year, thermal power plants produced 38%, the Krsko Nuclear Power Plant 35% and hydropower plants 26%. Solar plants contributed only a little over 1%.
