Mavir Network Upgrade Plan Cleared

Green Energy

A HUF 400 bln, four-year network upgrade plan by state-owned transmission system operator Mavir has been approved by the Hungarian Energy and Public Utilities Regulatory Office (MEKH), according to a report by state news wire MTI.

Mavir said the upgrades will keep the network in step with increased consumption and a "wave" of solar panel construction. Already, 4,000 MW of solar capacity is connected to the network, and another 5,000 MW could be added by 2027, helping Hungary reach 2030 targets already in 2025, it added.

The plan also includes the construction of interconnectors with the networks of Romania and Serbia.
