AES Bulgarian units produce 1,680 GWh in H1

AES Bulgaria, a unit of U.S.-based energy conglomerate AES Corporation, said that its thermal power plant (TPP) AES Galabovo and the St. Nikola wind farm produced some 1,680 GWh (gigawatt-hour) of electricity combined in the first half of 2021, 18% more compared to the same period last year.
According to a report by SeeNews, the St. Nikola wind farm produced 172 GWh of electricity during the first six months, which is close to a quarter of the country's wind energy output for the review period.
In 1999, a unit of AES Corporation purchased the majority interest in Bulgaria's Maritsa East 1 project, subsequently renamed AES Galabovo in 2009.
