StatoilHydro makes fourth gas discovery on Hassi Mouina license

Norway’s StatoilHydro and Algeria’s Sonatrach have tested natural gas from Lower Carboniferous and Upper Devonian sandstones in their fourth exploration well drilled on the Hassi Mouina license in Algeria’s Western Sahara desert.
Sonatrach said gas was produced at 1,305 meter and flowed at 2,515 million cu m/hr. The partners have begun to drill the fifth well, TNKW-1, on the southern part of the Hassi Mouina license. They were awarded the Hassi Mouina license in June 2004. The license, which contains four blocks within a 23,000 square km area in the Gourara basin, lies just northwest of In Salah gas field. StatoilHydro has a 75% interest in Hassi Mouina while Sonatrach holds 25%, Kazinform cites Oil&Gas Journal. (Kazinform)
