Statoil may be given Shtockman rights
Norwegian Statoil may be given a 10% share in the development of the large Russian gas field Shtockman in the Barents Sea, according to sources in the Russian company Gazprom, quoted by the financial newspaper Vedomosti.
The paper also indicates the the US company ConocoPhillips may be allotted a 14% share in the development. Gazprom, however, has refused to comment the report. Hydro CEO Eivind Reiten confirms to NRK that their dialogue with Gazprom is continuing, but does not want to give details.
Earlier this summer Gazprom announced that French Total would control 25% of the new company that will own the Shtokman field infrastructure. Gazprom will control 51%. That leaves 24%, which it said could be granted to other partners. The Shtokman is considered one of the world’s largest gas fields, with estimated reserves of more than 3.7 trillion cubic meters of gas. (norwaypost.no)
