Serbia to Hike Electricity, Gas Prices From May 1

The Serbian government said on Tuesday, cited by SeeNews, that it plans to increase electricity and natural gas prices for households by 8% and 10%, respectively, as of May 1, in line with its commitments under a stand-by arrangement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The move will translate into an average increase by around RSD 250 (EUR 2.13) of the monthly electricity bills of consumers, the government said in a press release.

The current price of electricity is RSD 8.796 per kWh (EUR 0.075/kWh), according to data from Serbia's Energy Agency.

The current price of gas is RSD 3.79/kWh (EUR 0.032/kWh), according to data from state-owned Srbijagas.
