Petrom to start exporting gas through Romania-Hungary as soon as 2010
Petrom, Romania’s biggest oil company, could start exporting gas as soon as 2010 through a pipeline connecting Romania and Hungary, Romanian business daily Ziarul Financiar reported on Thursday.
Romania’s Transgaz is building the pipeline between Arad, Romania, and Szeged, in Hungary, together with Földgázszállitó, Hungarian oil and gas company MOL’s gas transmission unit. The pipeline will extend 47 kilometers into Hungary and 62 kilometers into Romania. The pipeline is slated to be completed by the end of 2009.
Romanian news agency Rompres reported earlier in June that eleven Romanian companies want to import gas through the pipeline, but just one will export gas. A market source told Rompres the potential exporter is Petrom. (MTI-Econews)
