Hungary to spend HUF 150 bln in EU funding on flood defense
Hungary will spend some HUF 150 bln in European Union funding on flood defence in the 2014-2020 budget period, a national water management authority official said yesterday.
Three flood reservoirs, with a combined capacity of 300-400 million cubic meters, will be built along the Tisza by 2020, Benedek Göncz, the head of the authority's flood protection department, said at a conference in Kisar in eastern Hungary. Hungary is about half-way to its goal of raising reservoir capacity to 1.5 billion cubic meters, he added.
