Gazprom to export gas to South Korea
A Russian official says the country’s Gazprom and South Korea’s Kogas are discussing the expansion of cooperation in the gas sector.
The Russian energy giant plans to export liquefied natural gas (LNG) and gas condenzates to South Korea by creating a gas supply system in the East Asian country, Konstantin Pulikovsky, co-chairman of a Russia-South Korea intergovernmental commission, told RIA Novosti. The two sides held talks on the construction of an overland gas pipeline across the Korean peninsula, as well as the joint development of oil deposits in the Sea of Okhotsk in the Western Pacific Ocean. Pulikovsky said Russian-South Korean trade in 2007 could reach $12 billion, adding that it had tripled from $2.8 billion to $9.3 billion between 2001 and 2006. Gazprom has said that Russia will be able to annually supply up to 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas to South Korea from 2012-13. (presstv.ir)
